TRIP TO LONDON 2011

Our trip to London – 26 March to 30 March 2011

Saturday night : We left Nantes at 14.30 for Tours Airport, the plane took off at 6 PM. We arrived at 7 pm at London Stanstead Airport, we caught a coach to London Victoria Station, after we travelled by bus and walked to find the Hyde Park Hostel we had booked, but we got lost and walked a lot at night in the middle of London. Eventually, we arrived at 1 am, tired but happy to have a bed !

Sunday : We woke up early in the morning, we had lunch and spent the whole day visiting the city of London. We walked in Hyde Park, visited Victoria Museum and the Science Museum, after we walked to Harrod’s, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbaye, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, 10 Downing Street, Piccadilly Circus. In the evening, we tried to find a fish and chips shop to have dinner, but it was too late to eat, pubs were either full or about to close, so we looked for a place to eat and ended up eating in small groups in different places.

Monday : We left the hostel to go to the BCOM and we commuted by the tube, the Principal, Mr Drysdale and Mr Metha, Head of the Osteopathy Clinic welcomed us warmly, they presented us the school’s different trainings and the specializations. Then we visited the school, it was very interesting to see the use of the whole technical equipment they had, we could even try and test the different machines . After that, we had a short time to eat, and then we came back to attend  physiology and biostat lessons in the afternoon. At 4 pm, we had free time and everybody could do what he wanted : visit London, shopping, …

Tuesday: Early in the morning, we left the hostel for BCOM for a new day of lessons. We attended a nutrition lesson and a practice lesson in the afternoon in which we could play the patients’s role to take part in the osteopathic practice. Before we left the school, Mr Metha spent some time with us to give us more information on his school and we could ask him questions to compare his trainings with ours. We had a great contact with him and he told us he was looking forward to starting a real exchange with all COS schools. At last, both Mr Drysdale and Mr Metha wished us a nice trip back to France. At 6 pm, we left the school and had free time again. In the evening, we all met in a pub close to the hostel to spend the last evening altogether.

Wednesday : It was the day of the way back. Very early in the morning, we left the hostel to the center of London by bus with our luggage. At Victoria station, we caught the coach to London Stanstead Airport. As we arrived in advance we had time for shopping in the duty free area, we took off at 11 am and arrived in Tours Airport at 3 pm. Once we got our luggage back we left the airport by car to go back to Nantes and go to school the following day.

To conclude, we can say that it was an amazing trip because London is a very nice city to visit with a lot of free monuments . It was also enriching because BCOM showed us the different aspects of osteopathy which are completely different of France’s. It was a good experience to live in a all group and that as enabled us to develop better relationships all together.
